Zeitz MOCAA is the world’s largest museum dedicated to contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora, built inside a converted 1920s grain silo at the V&A Waterfront, redesigned by Heatherwick Studio. The atrium’s carved form is shaped like a single grain of corn, with light flooding through tubes 5.5 metres wide.
As a public, not-for-profit museum, it exhibits, collects, and researches contemporary African art, running education programmes through its BMW Centre for Art Education and studio space for emerging Cape Town artists through its Atelier.
